CAL THOMAS COMMENTARY FEBRUARY 20, 2014

AT FIRST IT DIDN’T SEEM POSSIBLE. THEN I READ IT AGAIN. A NEW POLL JOINTLY CONDUCTED BY ECONOMIST/YOUGOV HAS FOUND SEVEN OUT OF TEN PEOPLE WHO VOTED FOR PRESIDENT OBAMA’S RE-ELECTION IN 2012 REGRET IT. THAT INCLUDES 55 PERCENT OF DEMOCRATS.

EVEN MORE AMAZING IS THIS FIGURE. 84 PERCENT OF WOMEN WHO VOTES FOR THE PRESIDENT’S RE-ELECTION NOW REGRET HAVING DONE SO. AND GET THIS: THE POLL SAYS THOSE VOTERS ARE STILL UNIMPRESSED BY MITT ROMNEY AND GIVEN THE CHOICE AGAIN WOULD STILL VOTE FOR OBAMA.

DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE TO YOU? IT DOESN’T TO ME.

THE INFORMATION ABOUT OBAMA WAS AVAILABLE TO ALL AND NOT JUST LISTENERS TO TALK RADIO. AND YET TOO MANY OBAMA VOTERS CAST THEIR BALLOTS BASED, NOT ON FACTS, BUT ON OTHER THINGS: RACE SURELY WAS ONE. FEELINGS ANOTHER. IMPRESSIONS AND TV ADS POSSIBLY A THIRD.

THIS POLL SHOWS VOTERS READY TO MOVE ON FROM OBAMA AND TOWARD HILLARY CLINTON WHO ENJOYS A 50 PERCENT FAVORABLE, 43 PERCENT UNFAVORABLE RATING. THAT’S A PRETTY HIGH UNFAVORABLE WHICH IS LIKELY TO GET EVEN HIGHER IF SHE RUNS. I’M CAL THOMAS IN WASHINGTON.
